Craig Weinberg - Calvary Church
The amount of tech BMD packed into this little machine is incredible. At our church we started out with the ATEM Mini bit when the pro was released it was a no-brainer to upgrade. The addition of multi view as well as the direct record option was a game changer for us as we started adapting to the changes we’ve all had to embrace in this new pandemic world.

I do wish there was a second HDMI program out for local distribution around the facility without losing the multi view.

For the dollars there isn’t much to really complain about though. It’s been a lifesaver.

Sam Horowitz - Grace Anglican Church
This little box is amazing, but not perfect, and we really like it at our church (like countless others, live-streaming is new to us in the CoVid era).

No, it does not do everything you can conceive of. No, not all features are accessible on the hardware surface. No, a brand new volunteer is not going to pick it up intuitively 15 minutes before your event.

I like that it does automatic scaling (including frame rates). So Cameras 1 & 2 can be outputting 1080p60 and Camera 3 can
be giving me 1080p30 and I can stream at 1080p30 or what have you.

I love the multi-view on the HDMI out. I wish there was a way to get program out in addition, or else to get the multiview some other way. But it's nice to have a lot of status info in front of me at all times, including audio levels. The built-in audio mixer--including dynamics--works well for us.

I'm not sure how useful some of the advanced transitions are, but cut, crossfade ('mix') and dip all work well.

We were able to get Vimeo working just fine as a streaming destination by modifying a file on the computer and then saving our settings in the ATEM. One button to go live is great, and we've added local recording to USB. Note that you can only record an exact copy of what you're streaming due to a single encoder stream, so you can't broadcast at 720p30 and record at 1080p60 or anything.

We are using the built-in macro feature and downstream keyer to do some lower third titles for speaker introductions and that works pretty well as long as you understand how it works -- you're not actually changing settings with a macro, but recording key strokes. So if your macros is set to turn on a keyer and that keyer is already on... well your macro is going to turn it off when you run it.

We're using the upstream keyer to mix a secondary ProPresenter 7 green-screen output with our cameras. The only problems we have had are user error.

Plus: 4 HDMI inputs, scaling, encoding, recording, quality surface, multiview, upstream and downstream keying, all in a single box

Minus: no SDI in, only one HDMI out, only a single encoder -- lots of things that are acceptable compromises at this price point
